Cleveland Bass moving got it’s start back at Naples Depot in 1969. An interior designer by the name of William Warren Roberts gave Cleveland $500 to buy a truck and some moving carts and told him to go out and start moving the boxes and bags of the people who were coming into town by train. Cleveland Bass was the first moving company to come to Naples, and in the 70’s a large moving company had tried to run Cleveland Bass out of town, the county commissioner stepped in and told the large corporation to stand down and let the local businesses thrive. Back then 3rd Street and Port Royal were just roads made from shells. To make ends meet Cleveland worked at Kelly’s Fish House part time bringing fish up off the incoming boats until the moving company got off the ground. Cleveland also believed in making deals the old fashioned way – by handshake. A man’s word is his bond, today when Cleveland Bass agrees on a price, the price stands. To this day Cleveland Bass Moving & Storage is operated by his son Tim, and with Tim are his two son’s Tim Jr and Justin. Making this a four generation moving & storage company.
